Comparison
Democap vs interactive demo tools (Navattic, Storylane, Walnut)
Interactive demo platforms turn screenshots into click-through tours. Democap replays your real product with motion, narration, and per-lead personalization. Here is how the two approaches differ.
Last updated August 10, 2026
Interactive demo platforms — Navattic, Storylane, Walnut, and others — let prospects click through a captured version of your product at their own pace. Democap also captures your real product, but delivers it as a guided, narrated replay: your actual interface, replayed exactly as you drove it, personalized for each lead.
Both are "not a video." The difference is who's driving.
The short version
| Democap | Interactive demo tools | |
|---|---|---|
| Capture | DOM recording of a real session — every click, scroll, and keystroke, with real motion | Captured screens/HTML assembled into a clickable tour |
| Who drives | You recorded the perfect path; the lead watches it unfold | The lead clicks through hotspots and tooltips |
| Narration | Webcam, voice-over, or AI text-to-speech in sync with the demo | Usually text tooltips; some support audio |
| Personalization | Per-lead slots: names, logos, numbers on screen; clones from one master | Variables/tokens in many tools, typically per-tour |
| Setup effort | Record once with the Chrome extension; edit after | Capture screens, then build the tour flow by hand |
| Analytics | Per-viewer watch time, completion, drop-off | Per-step click-through analytics |
| Feel | Your product in motion — real typing, real transitions | A slideshow of your product with hotspots |
Where interactive demo tools win
Self-serve exploration. If you want a "test drive" embedded on your website where anonymous visitors poke around freely, a click-through tour is a good format. Building guided product tours for a marketing page is exactly what those tools are for.
Where Democap wins
- The demo tells a story. A recorded walkthrough shows your product the way a great AE would drive it — the right path, the right pacing, with a voice explaining why it matters. Click-through tours leave the storytelling to the prospect, and most prospects click three hotspots and leave.
- Real motion, not stitched screens. Democap replays an actual session: typing appears keystroke by keystroke, pages transition, data loads. Tours built from captured screens can feel like slideshows.
- Recording is the setup. You record a walkthrough once with the Chrome extension and you're done — no assembling steps, writing tooltip copy, or wiring flows. Editing (trimming, zoom punch-ins, changing on-screen text) happens after, only where needed.
- Personal, not just interactive. Mark a name, a logo, a metric as a slot and generate a personalized copy per lead. The prospect doesn't explore a generic environment — they watch their company inside your product.
- Narrated by a human (or your AI voice). Record your webcam alongside the demo or generate a voice-over from a script. A demo with a voice converts differently than one with tooltips.
Which should you choose?
- Anonymous website visitors who want to poke around on their own → an interactive demo tool.
- Named leads in an active pipeline who should see a guided, personalized walkthrough — and whose engagement you want to measure → Democap.
